Dr. Jones' Diatomaceous Earth Powder for Pets

🌿 What Is Diatomaceous Earth?

Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is a naturally occurring, soft sedimentary rock composed of fossilized algae known as diatoms. When ground into a fine powder, DE possesses microscopically sharp edges that are harmless to pets but lethal to parasites.

✅ Product Features

  • Organic & OMRI Certified: Certified for use in organic systems, ensuring top-tier purity and quality.
  • 100% Food Grade: Safe for consumption by pets when used as directed.
  • Chemical-Free & Non-Toxic: A natural alternative to conventional dewormers and insecticides.
  • Multi-Purpose Use: Effective both internally and externally.
  • Vet-Developed Formula: Created by Dr. Andrew Jones, DVM, with a commitment to holistic pet health.

🐕🐈 Internal Parasite Management

How It Works:

When ingested, Diatomaceous Earth works by physically damaging internal parasites (such as roundworms, whipworms, hookworms) through abrasive contact—causing them to dehydrate and die off, all while leaving beneficial gut flora intact.

How to Use Internally:

Give during mealtime, 1/4 tsp per 10lbs of body weight.

Comes with a 10cc (2 tsp) scoop.

Use for a minimum of 30 days to ensure complete parasite cycles are disrupted.

🐛 External Parasite Control

How It Works:

When applied topically, DE powder destroys external parasites such as fleas, ticks, and mites by absorbing oils and fats from their exoskeletons, causing dehydration.

How to Use Externally:

  • Lightly dust your pet’s coat, avoiding eyes and nose.
  • Focus on base of tail, belly, neck, and behind ears.
  • Apply to bedding, carpets, and furniture where fleas may hide.
  • Reapply every few days or after bathing.

Consistency is key for breaking flea life cycles.

⚠️ Safety & Tips

  • Ensure your pet has access to plenty of water when using DE internally.
  • Only use food-grade DE—never industrial-grade or filter-grade.
  • Avoid inhalation of fine powder by both pets and humans; apply in well-ventilated areas.

I’m a new fan of Dr. Jones after seeing his YouTube video on curing incurable ear infections in dogs. AMAZING! So I scoured the website to see all the treasures here. I bought diatomaceous earth to treat two feral cats that decided to live in my back yard. They have been digging up my garden to use as their litter box and it made me nervous that what they were leaving behind could affect my dogs. I have also seen them giving themselves dust baths, like birds, in the dirt so, I thought this would be a good treatment based on their behavior. The cats have let me start petting them so it is easy to apply to their coats while rubbing them. They are aware I am putting something on them, but it doesn’t bother them. It stays in their coat for a couple days and I can sort of “reapply” when I pet them again. I’ve also been sprinkling it on their food to treat them for internal parasites. I don’t know what they weigh so I was nervous to gamble with medications. I also wasn’t sure how they would react to chemicals and cats are strange … I just built up trust with them and didn’t want to damage that. I can’t tell if it’s working really but it’s the best solution for my situation I have found and I love that it’s natural and they don’t disapprove.
